Central Hudson Restores Natural Gas Service in Montogmery

Central Hudson has begun the process of restoring natural gas service to approximately 600 residents and businesses in the Village of Montgomery and several businesses in the Town of Montgomery, Orange County. Gas service was interrupted following significant damage to a natural gas line yesterday caused by a contractor installing a water main in the Town of Montgomery near Route 208 and Neelytown Road. The utility has been working with area municipal leaders and police and fire departments throughout this emergency to repair the damaged line, notify residents and restore service.

Repairs to the line were completed this afternoon, and Central Hudson has notified customers that crews have begun the time-consuming process of revisiting each affected home and business in the Village and Town to restore gas service and safely relight appliances.

Utility workers will require access to each home and business, and ask residents to remain at home or make arrangements to have someone present to allow entry. Natural gas service is expected to be restored to nearly all accessible homes and businesses by late this evening. If access is not available tonight, utility workers will return during the weekend to restore service.

Customers may contact Central Hudson with questions regarding their natural gas service restoration by calling (845) 452-2700.
