Central Hudson Debuts on Facebook and Twitter

Ever wonder about the status of an electric service restoration following a damaging storm? How to find information on environmental initiatives? Or where to turn for advice on saving energy? Become a  “fan” and “follower” of Central Hudson’s new Facebook and Twitter pages, and stay current on the latest energy news.

“We established a presence on Facebook and Twitter as another way to keep our customers up-to-date on programs, initiatives and current events at Central Hudson,” said Denise D. VanBuren, Vice President of Corporate Communications. “These social media pages will also provide general updates and service restoration information following major storms, and offer relevant content and links on a variety of energy topics.”

Customers may access Central Hudson’s Facebook and Twitter pages by clicking on the icons located on the home page of the utility’s Web site at www.CentralHudson.com, or by logging on to www.Facebook.com/CentralHudson and www.Twitter.com/CentralHudson.

“Having a Facebook or Twitter account is not necessary to view the pages, so anyone can log on,” said VanBuren, although those with accounts have the ability to interact more fully. “Through Facebook and Twitter, we also envision our customers’ ability to stay informed, particularly during major storms, by use of their cell phones or mobile devices,” she said.

Customers viewing the pages now will find posts on energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, electronic billing options, community programs and more.

“Many of our customers have told us they rely on social media sites to keep current, and we hope our new Facebook and Twitter pages will become useful options for them,” said VanBuren.

Central Hudson’s Web site can also be accessed by Web-enabled cell phones and mobile devices at http://mobile.CentralHudson.com. Customers may view their accounts, report and check on the status of a power outage, learn about bill payment options and more, anywhere and any time, all in a format compatible with mobile Web devices.
